Virginia – A True Lady of the Wild West
Named for Virginia City, Nevada, near Reno where she was surrendered to the local animal shelter, this five year old beauty of a Basset Hound hung up her dancing shoes and fancy dresses in hopes of starting her family. Unfortunately, as frequently happened in the old Wild West, that was not to be and she lost all her puppies. Hearing there was a better life to be had in California away from the saloons and dance halls in Nevada, this stubborn gal headed further west and found a family to help her get started on her new life!
While staying with this family in California this family has nothing but wonderful things to say about her: “Beautiful”, “so lady like and old fashioned”, and “eager to please”.
Virginia is a beautiful red & white Basset Hound with long, long ears that extend over 3 inches past he end of her nose! She is a petite thing weighing only 39 pounds, small enough to comfortably sit on your lap! She wants nothing more than someone to sit and snuggle up to all day (and night) but does love to go outside to explore the world – those long, long ears kick up all sorts of good smells! She will go outside to play with the other dogs and sniffs at the cats as they walk by but otherwise just likes to hang out. She is a wonderful traveler in a horse-less carriage as well! She can be a little shy of strangers at first, but once she has a chance to check them out, she will be your friend!
This little lady is up to date on her vaccinations, has recently been spayed and is heartworm negative.

Special Needs: Virginia needs: ANOTHER DOG IN THE HOME WITH WHOM TO PLAY. SOMEONE HOME MOST OF THE TIME. Virginia is: GREAT WITH KIDS OF ALL AGES. GOOD WITH CATS.
